A little blurb about the history of our organization.
Were you dancing in 1999 or 2000? If so, then you might remember Dancin' Downtown! DD was Swing Des Moines' first foray into a free, outdoor dance venue. DD featured free dancing (to our groovy boombox) at Nollen Plaza on Fridays over the lunch hour. DD was actually held weekly for a while, then moved to every other week.
Despite verbal enthusiasm by our membership, though, actual attendance was a little on the sparse side. DD was suspended after just one season. Those who did participate had fun, though, and the many spectator comments made it all worthwhile.
